SKU: PVOH4988
Polyvinyl Alcohol Grade 49-88
Polyvinyl Alcohol Grade 49-88 is a high-viscosity (49 cps for a 4% solution) and partially hydrolyzed (88%) water-soluble polymer. Equivalent to PVOH5042, ElvanolĀ® 50-42, SELVOL 540, and POVAL 49-88, it dissolves in cold water but benefits from heating or warm water for complete dissolution. This polymer offers high tensile strength, tear resistance, and excellent properties as a disperser and stabilizer.
Applications include stabilizing vinyl acetate, polystyrene, and polyvinyl chloride emulsions, re-moisturizing adhesives, temporary binders for ceramics, water-soluble films, paper adhesives, photosensitive coatings, and as a soil anti-redeposition agent. PVOH 49-88 is also widely used in personal care, construction, textile, and emulsion industries and is a key ingredient for making slime.
